Baston, Langtoft and Thurlby Naturehood Local residents have launched a new initiative across all three parishes to support nature and to give people more opportunities to enjoy the wonders of the natural world around the villages. The Naturehood project aims to create more places for nature both in the villages and in the surrounding countryside, linking up where possible with the existing nature reserves and known sites of interest. The initiative is supported by the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust. Current Projects include -The three churchyards in the villages -The Penfield Nature Reserve at Langtoft -Reinstating the east end pond in Langtoft. -Encouraging wildlife gardening across the villages -Other habitat improvement projects are also underway By managing areas appropriately we can provide space for wildlife and particularly insects which will then help others that depend on them for food. If you are interested in being involved and helping to move this project forward or would like to attend one of the work-parties, please get in touch.
