The Competition and the Rules (Revised for 2026)
Pick up your Camera or Phone and capture the wildlife around us. There are categories for all age groups!

Rules 2026
The aim of this competition is to encourage an interest in both wildlife and wildlife photography. It is specifically for amateur photographers.
I. All photos submitted must be from amateur photographers. For this competition, amateur is defined by the following: You do not receive any income from the sale of your photographs or photographic services.
II. Entries are to be in two age groups, adults (Open), 4 to 16 years (Young Person).
III. The competition is to be digital images only. Pictures must be taken within the three parish boundaries (Thurlby, Baston and Langtoft). Entrants must specify the camera type and lens the picture was taken with (to enable judges to factor this into the awarding of prizes).
III. Pictures are to have been taken within the 12 months prior to the competition submission date.
IV. There will be two categories for each age group (see II.) General photography and Macro photography (small creatures or plants, close up or magnified).
V. For the adult section, there will be a further split of awards for both categories, with awards for the best pictures taken with a dedicated camera, and separate awards for the best pictures taken with a phone camera. There will be a total of six prizes to be won (taking into account the age groups and camera type) plus an additional overall winner.
VI. Photo subjects are to be Wildlife/Nature. This covers plants, birds, insects, mammals etc and also includes landscapes.
VII. Prizes will be a trophy for each category winner. . The judges may choose to recognise additional outstanding work (award certificates) at their discretion.
VIII. The photos are to be submitted in electronic format as JPEG files.
IX It is important for the judges that the photos are anonymous. Do not put your name on the images you submit. Unfortunately, any images with the photographers name on, will now be rejected by the administrator.
X. Maximum file size of each photo is 8Mb.
XI. Entries are to be emailed to the Naturehood email account (naturehood.sk@gmail.com).
You must include the following details with each entry: your name, the photo location, the age group you are entering and finally the camera type and lens the picture was taken with, e.g. Samsung Phone, Nikon D50 with 200mm lens.
XII. Closing date for entries is 30th September 2026.
XIII. Entries must be your own work.
XIV. Multiple entries by the same photographer are allowed, but please limit these to your best work/favourites.
XV. Submitted photographs may, at some point, be used on the Naturehood website, or printed to display at Naturehood events. By entering this competition you are giving permission for Naturehood to use your photographs for the non-commercial uses listed above. Credit for any photographs used (your name) will appear with any pictures used if you request it when you submit your entry(s) so please make that request clear if you would like to get the credit for your work i.e. “Please can you give me credit for any photos published online or printed, thank you”.
